Privacy Policy

About the Handling of Personal Information

The Company is aware that protecting personal information (refers to personal information based on laws for protection of personal information; hereinafter the same) in work activities is a corporate responsibility, and in order to prevent misuse of personal information and further protect the rights of the people to which personal information belongs, we will strive to appropriately handle personal information. As part of those efforts, we hereby post as stated below our privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”).

In addition, the Company will stipulate a personal information protection management system and regularly reconsider and continuously improve it.

Please note that there may be separate stipulations related to handling of personal information at the Company’s respective service office (hereinafter referred to as the “Registration Office”) at which you registered or provided personal information. In such a case, the matters that have been separately stipulated will apply, so we ask that you please check the guidance that you receive when you provide personal information.

  2. Acquisition of personal information, purposes of use, and safety management

    The Company will obtain personal information by an appropriate and fair method, and we will not obtain it by an unfair method that goes against the relevant person’s intentions. For the use and provision of personal information, we will not handle such personal information that exceeds the scope that is necessary for accomplishing the specified purposes of use in the Company’s business activities (design, research, development, manufacturing, sales, maintenance, leasing, imports, and exports of electrical appliances), and we will implement measures for that purpose.

    Concerning the Company’s purposes of use of personal information, please refer to About the purposes of use of personal information. The same also applies for the purposes of use of possessed personal data.

    The company will strive to maintain the accurate and most recent personal information and will also implement the necessary and appropriate measures, including supervision of the Company’s employees, in order to prevent leaks, loss, or damage of personal information and to conduct other safety management and will strive for prevention and correction.

  3. About joint use of personal information and provision to third parties
    1. The Company may, with the Company’s consolidated subsidiaries and the Company’s parent company and affiliated companies in foreign countries, provide or jointly use portions or all of the personal information that the Company possesses within the scope of the aforementioned purposes of use. The Company will serve as the party responsible for managing and supervising personal information that is provided or jointly used.

    2. Excluding cases of (1) above and any of those below, the Company will not disclose or provide to third parties the relevant person’s personal information unless it obtained the relevant person’s agreement in advance.

      1. Cases based on a law or ordinance of Japan

      2. When it is necessary in order to protect a person’s life, body, or assets, and it is difficult to obtain the agreement of the person to which the information belongs

      3. When it is necessary to cooperate with an organization or local public body in Japan or with a party that was consigned by such an organization or body that will perform clerical work stipulated in a law or ordinance, and there is a possibility that obtaining the agreement of the person to which the information belongs will hinder the performance of the relevant clerical work

      4. Cases of entrusting the handling of personal information to a third party within the scope that is necessary for accomplishing the aforementioned purposes of use

      5. Cases in which personal information will be provided in association with succession of business due to a merger, business transfer, or other reason

      6. Cases in which, for the purpose of providing statistical information, individual items of personal information will be accumulated or analyzed and then processed into a form in which individuals cannot be identified, and that statistical data will be disclosed

  4. About handling of anonymous processed information

    In the event that the Company will create information related to individuals that is obtained by processing personal information so that specific individuals cannot be identified and for which it is not possible to restore the relevant personal information (hereinafter referred to as the “Anonymous Processed Information”), that creation will be appropriately conducted according to the standards stipulated by the Personal Information Protection Commission’s rules, and measures will be implemented for the necessary safety management.

    In addition, in the event that the Anonymous Processed Information that was created by the Company will be provided to a third party, we will publicly announce the items of information related to individuals that will be included in the Anonymous Processed Information that will be provided to a third party according to the standards stipulated in the Personal Information Protection Commission’s rules, and the method of that provision, and we will clearly indicate to the relevant third party the fact that the information for provision is the Anonymous Processed Information.

  5. Procedures for requests for disclosure of personal information

    Excluding cases in which it does not bear an obligation based on a law or ordinance of Japan, the Company will accept, by the procedures stated below, requests (hereinafter referred to as the “Disclosure Requests”) for disclosure of the possessed personal data* in the possession of the Company. The person making a request is to do so by mailing the prescribed document along with a document for confirming his or her identity. For a Disclosure Request, we may charge the prescribed service charge as explained later.

    *Possessed personal data refers to personal information that comprises a personal information database that was classified to make it possible to search for specific personal information and for which the Company has the authority to conduct disclosure, correction of content, and suspension of use.

      Items (2) through (5) below state procedures for cases in which a request for disclosure of possessed personal data will be made. As the receiving method for requests for disclosure, we will conduct reliable handling and, in order to avoid problems of information leaks due to impersonation, we will conduct everything by mailing documents. Please understand in advance that, even if the person to whom information belongs or his or her representative visits the Company and makes an application together with a document that confirms the identity of that person (or representative), time will be necessary for an investigation; therefore, we cannot reply at that time.

    2. Documents to be submitted when a request for disclosure is made

      About disclosure of personal information and notification of purposes of use

      Please fill in the necessary matters in the Company’s prescribed Written Request for Disclosure of Personal Information and then apply by sending it by postal mail (delivery certified mail).

      About correction, addition, elimination, and suspension of use of personal information

      Please fill in the necessary matters on the Company’s prescribed Written Request for Correction of Personal Information and then apply by sending it by postal mail (delivery certified mail).

    3. Service charge

      About disclosure of personal information and notification of purposes of use

      We will charge JPY 700 (including tax) as a service charge for each request. When you make a request, please enclose a postal order with a fixed amount of JPY 700. A postal order with a fixed amount is issued at the post office. The customer will bear the JPY 10 service charge when a postal order is issued.
      In the event that you make a single request for both disclosure of personal information and notification of purposes of use, we will charge only a service charge (JPY 700) for one request.

      About correction, addition, elimination, or suspension of use of personal information

      We will not charge a service charge.

    4. People who can make a Disclosure Request

      The people who can make a Disclosure Request are as stated below.

      1. The person to whom the information belongs (the person who is identified by the subject personal information)

      2. The representative (the person delegated by the person to whom the information belongs, or a legal representative such as a person with parental authority)
        Please understand that even in a case of a request by a representative, we will reply to the person to whom the information belongs.

    5. Documents for confirming the identity of the person to whom the information belongs and the representative

      When you make a Disclosure Request, we will have you submit a document in order to confirm that the person who made the request is the person to whom the information belongs or the representative.

        *Of the documents you submit, for documents in which your legal domicile is stated, please black out the portions of those statements and then submit the documents.

      2. Case of a request by a representative

        1. A document of (A) or (B) of (1) related to the person to whom the information belongs

        2. A document of (A) or (B) of (1) related to the representative

        3. Letter of proxy by the person to whom the information belongs
          (Please submit a seal by the person to whom the information belongs and the seal impression registration certificate for that seal impression. If the representative is a legal representative, such as a person with parental authority, it is also possible to submit, instead of a letter of proxy, a certificate of family registry or its excerpt that indicates the relationship with the person to whom the information belongs.)

      You can download the Written Request for Disclosure of Personal Information and the Written Request for Correction of Personal Information from the links below.

      Based on the submitted documents, the Company will investigate the personal information of the relevant person and then send it or make a reply by postal mail for which receipt is limited to the relevant person, so please be sure that there are no mistakes in the submitted documents.

      Please understand that even in the event that, as a result of an investigation, there was no personal information related to the request at the Company, or it was not possible to identify personal information related to the request by only using the information that you submitted in documents, we cannot refund the service charge and the postage fee.

      Please allow us to have a grace period of the Company’s ten business days as a period for internal investigation after we receive the submitted documents. In the event that ten business days or more will be necessary, the Company will notify you of that fact.

  6. Handling of complaints and consultations

    For a complaint or consultation related to the handling of personal information, please make an inquiry at the office stated below.

  7. Other matters
    1. In order to strive to appropriately protect personal information, the Company will comply with the laws and ordinances of Japan and the guidelines and other standards stipulated by Japan (hereinafter referred to as the “Laws and Ordinances”). In addition, in order to handle enactment or revision of the Laws and Ordinances, the Company may change the Policy (including the aforementioned “About the purposes of use of personal information”) without advance notice.

    2. The changed Policy will become valid at the time it is made public on the Company’s website.

    3. In the event that a customer consulted or contacted the Company by telephone, we may record the content of the conversation in order to accurately ascertain what the customer said and conduct appropriate handling.

  • About handling of personal information in a warranty card

    We indicate or state the purposes of use stated below and then handle the personal information customers state on the warranty cards in accordance with the Home Electric Appliances Fair Trade Conference’s Standards for Indicating Purposes of Use of Personal Information on Warranty Cards (document dated November 16, 2004).

    Please understand that we may use the stated content that the customer entered for service activities during the warranty period and for subsequent safety inspections.

  • About acquisition and use of attribute information, terminal information, location information, and action history

    On the Company’s website, we use cookies (*) in order to protect user privacy, improve convenience, deliver appropriate advertisements to users, and obtain statistical data. Unless there is a special posting on the site, there will be no acquisition of personal information (name, date of birth, telephone number, email address, and address) by cookies. If you do not want collection of information related to the browser, it is possible to change the settings in the browser yourself and thereby disable the cookies’ functions.

    *Cookies are mechanisms by which the user is confirmed by sending a small data file from the website server to the hard disk or memory on the user side when a web screen is accessed.
